ABCP’s partner Dharma Alliance is a Geneva-based, non-profit organisation that bridges Dharmic philosophical traditions (like Buddhism and Hinduism) with multilateral governance. ABCP and Dharma Alliance in January 2024, during the 12th General Assembly of ABCP, held in India, signed a Framework of Cooperation Agreement, under which the two organisations organised a joint side event “Human rights – cultural heritage” during the 57th Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva in October 2024.
Dharma Alliance convened its first official side event at the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) in Geneva on 16 July 2026. Plural Traditions and the Normative Order was held as a dialogue between Dharmic and Indigenous traditions on why open and plural traditions so often enter the multilateral normative order as ornament rather than architecture, and what it would take to change that. Panelists included Sámi Professor Ánde Somby, Canadian Indigenous rights lawyer Ms. Guylaine Grenier, Dr. Michael Wiener, Coordinator of OHCHR’s Faith for Rights workstream, and Mr. Juan Diaz, Co-Founder, Dharma Alliance.
