Statement

The Asian Buddhists Conference for Peace (ABCP) is an organization uniting international Buddhists under the common goal of protecting, strengthening and promoting global peace, unity, justice and human values. Our activities are based on the teachings of Lord Buddha Shakyamuni for upholding peace, morality, unity and equality. The teachings are wise and consistent against war and conflict.

World peace is dependent on the peace of countries and the peace of the countries are dependent on the peace of the people’s inner mind. War and conflict have posed tremendous danger, and have caused damage and loss, and we should take lessons from the many wars of the past time, because the principle of mutual understanding, tolerance and respect among the countries are getting disrupted, wars and conflict are occurring and human beings are suffering loss on their peace and security.

ABCP voices its deep concern that many people have lost their lives, livelihood, health and income because of the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Citizens of the new century cannot repeat the mistake of the past and should resolve all conflicts through mutual understanding, discussion and peace. We are calling for the resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine based on peace, tolerance and mutual consensus. We believe that other countries will also support this appeal.
