The Asian Buddhists Conference for Peace was registered with ECOSOC – the United National Economic and Social Council and put on its Roster in 1989. ABCP has applied to ECOSOC to upgrade its status from Roster to Consultative Status, and this request is being considered and an upgradation of the status is awaited.

Besides being on the Roster of ECOSOC, the Asian Buddhists Conference for Peace in August 1983 was admitted to the mutual information category of relationship (Category C) with the UNESCO.
ABCP is admitted to the mutual-information category of relationship with UNESCO

His Excellency Amadou-Mahtar M’Bow, Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has decided to admit the Asian Buddhist Conference for Peace (ABCP) to the mutual information category of relationship (Category C) with the UNESCO.
In accordance with the Directives concerning UNESCO’s relations with international NGOs, any organization admitted to this category (C) of relationship is required to keep the UNESCO Director-General informed of those activities which are relevant to UNESCO’s program and of the assistance given in achieving UNESCO’s objectives, and to acquaint its members by all means at their command, with those UNESCO program activities and achievements which are likely to interest them.
On behalf of the Executive Council of the ABCP, Most Venerable Khambo Lama Kh. Gaadan, President of ABCP, and Prof. Ch. Jugder, ABCP Secretary-General have sent a letter to His Excellency Amadou-Mahtar M’Bow by which they have confirmed the acceptance by the ABCP Headquarters the decision of the UNESCO Director-General.
