His Excellency Amadou-Mahtar M'Bow, Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has decided to admit the Asian Buddhist Conference for Peace (ABCP) to the mutual information category of relationship (Category C) with the UNESCO.
In accordance with the Directives concerning UNESCO's relations with international NGOs, any organisation admitted to this category (C) of relationship is required to keep the UNESCO Director-General informed of those activities which are relevant to UNESCO's programme and of the assistance given in achieving UNESCO's objectives, and to acquaint its members by all means at their command, with those UNESCO programme activities and achievements which are likely to interest them.
On behalf of the Executive Council of the ABCP, Most Venerable Khambo Lama Kh. Gaadan, President of ABCP, and Prof. Ch. Jugder, ABCP Secretary-General have sent a letter to His Excellency Amadou-Mahtar M'Bow by which they have confirmed the acceptance by the ABCP Headquarters the decision of the UNESCO Director-General.
